Ever Wonder What Happened to Neo-Soul Singing Duo, Floetry? Find Out, Plus Free Download

Many have long wondered what has been going on with Floetry. We've gotten lots of emails on this issue asking us to see what we could dig up on the topic. Well here's the skinny. Floetry did break up and they do not plan to get back together.

In fact, Marsha Ambrosius says in an interview that she can not see them getting back together, to paraphrase her comments. Natalie Stewart, the other member of this soulful duo agreed in an interview with talk-show host Wendy Williams, that Stewart made a dissappearing act without informing her band member. What was she to do?

The problem with that is that they had a concert coming up. Ambrosius went on with the concert and it was billed as a Floetry performance. Fans arrived to the show only to find that there was no Natalie Stewart. She had been replaced by a singer by the name of Amanda Diva. So, who is Amanda Diva?

Who knew?! Natalie explains in the interview that she was out of touch with her bandmate because she was ill and needed to get back into herself. Go figure.

Natalie Stewart Answers Gay Rumors

We all know that it doesn't matter one way or the other if Natalie Stewart is gay or not, but juicy gossip is juicy gossip, right?!

In the same radio interview with Wendy Williams, Natalie Stewart puts an end to the gossip, admitting to being bisexual, while denying long-running rumors of carrying on a romance with band member Marsha Ambrosius, citing that, "Sexual orientation is for single folk," and she's married now. She also states that when she was single, she had "fun" with girls and if she and her husband want to have more fun with girls together, then basically, that's their prerogative.

The songbird goes on to say that the English do not regard sexuality as such a taboo subject as Americans do and spills all of Ambrosius' beans in revealing that she is as straight as they come. Stewart also says that she and Marsha Ambrosia are still friends and are not planning to make music together again anytime soon because they are both enjoying their solo careers. Well, at least the two have found at least one term upon which they can agree. Whew!

Solo Projects

In the meantime, they are both said to be working on solo projects. It would be wonderful if they got together for another Floetry project. The music is a culmination of the blending of multiple genres'. It's chock-full of R & B, hip-hop, neo-soul, funk, classical, and the blues infused throughout and is wonderful to the ear! I love the music that these two talented divas made together, as well as their solo work. They both seem to be very positive sisters who have definitely made their mark in Black music history and we can expect them to continue to do so. Stewart put the art of spoken word poetry on the Grammy map and of course we can never forget the melodiously funky single, "Butterflies," that Ambrosious penned for the "King of Pop," Michael Jackson! Now that one is a classic!

Rapper DMX Is Afraid of The Beatdown: Sore Loser Before The Fight Even Begins

The news is buzzing around ~~crybaby~~ ~~jailbird~~ rapper, DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons. Sources report that he DMX allegedly pulled out of a much touted martial arts fight before it even happened. DMX was slated to spar with Eric Martinez in December of 2009. He canceled the event just last week, fearing for his safety.

The event was marketed as a celebrity Alabama Pride MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) event.

DMX, who also has somewhat of a checkered past with the law has been cited as bragging that he was not even going to train for the event, prior to canceling, of course. He was intent on employing "street fighting" techniques in this failed pop culture plot. It's not happening afterall.

Unbelievably, the reason that DMX gave for bowing out of this event was because Thunder Promotions, who put the whole flop together, refused to fix the fight in his favor. Since Thunder Promotions management would not guarantee a win for DMX, he outright refused to participate in the match, sat in his virtual corner of the nonexistent ring, and pouted!

According to TMZ, DMX's manager, Nakia Walker issued a contractual addendum to the original contract with Thunder Promotions, outlined with the following stipulation:

“Event Promoter and Management agree that (DMX) is scheduled to win Boxing Challenge… All parties agree this event has been scheduled to occur only in fun and that the artist involved is not a professional boxer.”

After arriving over ninety minutes late for the charity event in Colorado Springs, at which DMX was slated to perform, fans began chanting, "DMX! DMX!" All-out mayhem ensued. DMX hopped onstage, but the audience couldn't hear him because unfortunately, the microphone and speaker systems were unplugged. This video of security and DMX fighting represents what resulted. A fight!

Is this the same guy who has served jail time for cruelty to animals and drug possession and who was accused of assaulting a sherriff? How's about not signing up for any more fights, in or out of the ring? "Where my dogs at?!"

DJ AM Dead of Drug Overdose: Should His Drug Reality Show "Gone Too Far" Still Go On?

Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM, one of the best hip-hop D.J.'s around, died this past August after a life-long battle with drug-addiction. Upon turning twenty-five years old, he cleaned himself up. Just last year, four of his close friends died in a plane crash. He survived. This awful turn of events led him back into a downward spiral of drug use and thrust him right back into addiction.

This time, DJ AM began with pain killers. Unfortunately this time, the party had gone too far. DJ AM was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder and sick with guilt after the horrible plane crash that killed his friends. Although his life had been spared for a year more, it was just too much for DJ.

After surviving the accident, Adam told People Magazine, “I can’t believe I made it,” he said. “I’ve prayed every night for the past 10 years. There’s a lot more to thank God for now … I was saved for a reason. Maybe I’m going to help someone else. I don’t question it. All I know is I’m thankful to be here.” This would be his mission from that point on.

The immense pain that Adam lived with following the plane crash was immense. There are no words to describe how he felt that could ever describe his horror better than his own. He writes on his blog, "Daily I live with the guilt and grief of what happened that night, what I saw, who was lost and why I was spared. I have no words to express the pain that comes with knowing four people died, while I lived."

This guy had a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. Anyone who knew him would tell you that. Just check out Adam's photograph of his two biggest fans on his blog, DJ AM Now.

He couldn't save himself, but he never gave up trying. He also never stopped trying to help others in their fight for sobriety. Just last night, MTV aired the first installment of the multi-part documentary that DJ AM made before his death called "Gone Too Far." The series will continue next Monday at 10:00 PMET.

Do you think MTV should be airing the series? Why or why not?

This is definitely a must-see TV event. The show's premise is that DJ AM helps eight teenagers make the decision to go to rehab as they strive to stop taking drugs. This is something that DJ AM definitely knows a lot about. It's just so difficult to watch, knowing that he, is in fact, already deceased due to a drug overdose. But it is definitely well worth the watch. Just think of the multitudes of people and entire families who are being helped by this project.

It's so much more than a project now. DJ AM died of drug overdose. Who better to listen to than someone who tried so hard to stay clean and succumbed to the hell of such a torturous life and death? Put your kids in front of the television and make them watch it!

Producers at MTV weren't sure whether or not it would be appropriate to go ahead and air the series since DJ AM is now deceased, but his mother thought that this would be the best way to honor her son, by helping to keep his mission alive and help others the same way he attempted to help them, their families, and himself. What profundity.

Previously, Adam was engaged to marry Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore. He had played with such musical greats as Steve Aoki, Jay-Z, and Will.i.am. of The Black Eyed Peas. He was co-owner of the nightclub LAX was awarded a BET Hip-Hop Honors Award, which was recorded last Saturday night, posthumously for DJ of the Year. Rapper Busta Rhymes accepted the award on DJ AM's behalf.
